NAOMI TRANSCENDS GENRES

Acclaimed cellist, Naomi Gee Wright trained at the Royal Academy of Music and the Eastman School in Rochester, New York, and has since been working as soloist, collaborator, improviser and composer. 

 

As a soloist and ensemble player, Naomi has worked and recorded with a wide-ranging mix of artists, from Björk and Terence Blanchard to Oud player Attab Haddad, and performed as a duo with Jaqueline du Pré's pianist, Michael Dussek.

As a composer and band leader, Naomi is the founder of the Naomi Gee Wright Band, a trio of cello, tabla and voice based in improvisation, which performs Naomi's original compositions.

Naomi has released a duet album with pianist Annabelle Lawson – Anima Rising, with works by Janáček, Hearne, Wright, Plews and Beethoven, available on bandcamp; recorded the John Ireland Cello Sonata with Peter Noke, and appeared on Days Distinctive with the Attab Haddad Ensemble.

Naomi is currently working on a new recording project with vocals and Tabla.
